Allium nigrum

A grateful, gracious onion with a fine and healthy growth – and easy to cultivate. Therefore it’s less expensive than Alliums varieties with large flowers. Excellent perennializer. Quite some of the many tiny new bulbs it produces yearly develop into mature bulbs over the years, and bloom.

This plant is very versatile, writes Jacqueline van der Kloet in her book. It grows well in most soils, both full sun and partial shade, making it perfect for beginners. Being white, it goes well with almost any combination, especially with orange beauties like the Fritillaria crown imperialis hybrids or the very popular tulip 'Ballerina'.
