Love you More

The name ‘Love You More’ is a bit of a joke towards the British Daffodil lovers. In the United Kingdom there is an active Daffodil Society that organizes Daffodil shows all over the country during spring time. The shows are actually a sort of competition for who can show the most beautiful Daffodil. Many, mostly elderly, people come to these shows armed with their best Daffodils. I went to see one at Rosemoor and brought some of my own Daffodils to show. I had white seedlings that I had grown to like and I was excited to see what the British would think of them. They fell in love with them too, they became the Best Flower, and I won an engraved crystal Whiskey glass. (One of the best prizes ever, if you ask me.)

My two Daffodils were the center of attention, all those dignified, posh, elderly British gentlemen were standing around her showering her with compliments. I thought to myself, you know what, I’ll name one ‘I Love You’ and the other ‘Love You More’. It just seemed like a lot of fun to hear those Daffodil enthusiasts agitatedly say I Love You and Love You More to one another. It would be funny.

The reason that this Daffodil is named ‘Love You More’ and not ‘I Love You’ is that I simply had more bulbs of this one. In a few years I’ll have enough bulbs of ‘I Love You’ to be able to sell those as well.
